The new dates are all in September and October, and the locations will be from coast to coast, including two headline shows in Texas and three in California. The band also has a previously scheduled appearance at  at  Sept. 24.

The group’s lineup currently consists of original guitarist and backing vocalist Jerry Cantrell, original drummer , longtime bassist Mike Inez, and vocalist William DuVall, who has been performing with the band since 2006.

Alice in Chains was one of the main acts to emerge from the grunge scene of the early ’90s, largely due to its iconic frontman Layne Staley, but like founding bassist Mike Starr, Staley sufferred from a severe drug addiction and both eventually died.

Alternative Nation is organizing a tribute to Staley and Starr Aug. 18-20 in Seattle, the band’s hometown and the birthplace of grunge.

The group has remained active in recent years, releasing an album in 2013 titled The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.
