Band Of Horses Galloping Across North America

Why are you ok? Is it because Band of Horses is back on tour? The indie mainstays’ new album hits stores on Friday and a run of shows is coming to give fans a chance to hear the material live.

The “why are you ok” tour officially kicks off in Aspen, Colo., Aug. 9 and hovers around the West Coast for the rest of that month until an Aug. 26 gig in Santa Barbara, Calif. Then the action resumes Sept. 20 in Boston and the group has shows scheduled around the East Coast and South before ending in in Chicago, Ill., Nov. 16.

Although the 25 shows in just over 90 days may not sound like much, the band has promised more dates are coming.

There are a number of pre-announced shows in Colorado that are still on Aug. 11 and 13 in Bellvue and Denver respectively. The band also has an appearance at  scheduled Sept. 27 in Dana Point, Calif.

Prior to the tour, Band of Horses has a show tomorrow in Richmond, Va. and will play at  in Manchester, Tenn., this weekend. After that, European festivals and shows are the name of the game, as the band will be overseas until late July, when it has three shows booked in Australia. Upon returning to the western hemisphere the band will formally launch its headline tour.

The new album, why are you ok, is the group’s fifth studio album. The Horses’ 2010 project Infinite Arms was nominated for a Grammy and the group has been through different iterations since its foundation in 2004.
