Troy Carter Joins Spotify

Carter, founder of Coalition Media Group, has been a talent manager for 15 years, first for Eve then for acts like Lady Gaga, John Legend, Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth. At Spotify, Carter is expected to address Spotify’s perceived insensitivity toward artist royalties.

“My job is just a natural continuation of what I’ve always done – protect the voice of artists. Always have and always will,” Carter said in a Facebook post.

Music executives expect Carter to play the same role as Jimmy Iovine at Beats Electronics: He will be the liaison that knows how to communicate to musicians and act as interpreter between artists and the techs at Spotify.

Carter said his team at management team at Atom Factory will remain intact to “run our tech, culture and hustle outlet” Smashd.co.
