It’s Official; Nashville Will Return

Fans demanded that the show must go on and, thanks to their social media campaign and Lionsgate pursuing a deal with other networks after ABC canceled the series, “Nashville” will return for a fifth season on CMT and be streamed on Hulu.

The deal was reportedly reached June 9. Another incentive for the series came from a combination of funding from the state, Metro, Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp., and Ryman Hospitality.

With $8 million in the state’s budget, Nashville Mayor Megan Barry “proposed a $1.375 million fund for film incentives” but the amount “Nashville” will receive has yet to be determined, according to The Tennessean.

The Metro and state advocate for the series stating that it brings in tourism and revenue to the local economy plus production jobs.

The show’s entire cast is likely to return but will be under the direction of a different creative team. Local payroll for season two of the series was around $21.2 million, the Tennessean reported.
