Aussie Dates: Selena Gomez Upgrade

Following sellouts in Sydney and Melbourne for Selena Gomez’s Revival Tour, Live Nation upgraded the singer’s Sydney venue.

Two shows at the 5,500-capacity  (Aug. 9-10) are relocated to 21,000-capacity  for a single show, Aug. 9.

A second show at Melbourne’s  was added for Aug. 7. Gomez now does four shows Down Under, Aug. 6-11, joined for three of these by DNCE, led by Joe Jonas. She also plays New Zealand Aug. 13.

Live Nation also expanded dates for Lamb of God. The metal band is in the country opening for Slipknot’s four arena dates Oct. 26-31 in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Lamb of God will now also do headline club dates in Adelaide (Nov. 1) and Perth (Nov. 3).

Laneway Presents announced that British band Savages canceled a June 16-20 visit citing “unforeseen circumstances.” The band expressed its regrets, adding, “As big fans of music ourselves, we know how much it sucks to have to get your ticket refunded with no show. We love Australia and look forward to making it up to you 100% sooner rather than later. There’s no better remedy than an amazing show. Trust us, we’re the first to be disappointed.”

Following a sellout tour in 2014, Frontier Touring brings a cappella quintet Pentatonix back for four Australian theatre stops Sept. 3-8. The act then makes its New Zealand debut at the  Sept. 10.

Metropolis Touring and Select Touring have The Dandy Warhols returning for their Distortland Tour taking in five theatres Oct. 26-30.

Los Angeles’ Bleached makes its Australian bow through Popfrenzy Presents, with four club appearances Sept. 28 to Oct. 4.

Blue Murder has back for three theatres and a Lost Lands festival appearance Oct. 27-30.
