The project is estimated to run $13 million and is being driven by Roland Von Kurnatowski, who already owns Tipitina’s and the Orpheum theater in New Orleans.
The Advocate reports the vote was 6-0 in favor of the project. The property is currently managed by Louisiana’s Non-Flood Asset Authority and owned by the Orleans Levee District, and The Advocate reports the Authority has signed a 50-year lease with Von Kurnatowski’s company.
The new building will fill the space previoudly occupied by Bally’s Casino Dock before hurricane Katrina.
