ZZ Top Extends Fall Routing

Billy F. Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard have more places to go and people to see. In addition to rescheduling its spring shows that were postponed, ZZ Top has added nearly a dozen headline gigs to the band’s fall schedule.

ZZ Top was forced to postpone a batch of dates in late April and early May because Hill dislocated his shoulder. The bassist was on his way to the stage at the Lone Star Events Center in Lubbock, Texas, April 14 when he tripped on a step. But now he’s recovered and ready to rock again.

That Little Ol’ Band From Texas has a busy summer ahead of it, starting with a trip to Europe that includes appearances at Glastonbury and Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival.

ZZ Top will be back on U.S. stages in August to take care of headline dates, co-bill gigs with Gregg Allman and a handful of fair/festival sets.

The new headline dates include multiple shows in Alabama, Tennessee and Florida, as well as stops in South Carolina, West Virginia, Mississippi and Oklahoma. The rescheduled gigs include Shawnee, Okla.; Shreveport, La.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Sarasota, Fla.; and Clearwater, Fla.

“ZZ Top is looking forward to that double back in Tennessee, with our heads in Mississippi, along with the rest of the anatomy around the country,” the band said in a joint statement. “We’ll be playing all our favorite places. What else could we ask for? Well, perhaps a little TexMex and barbeque now and then!”
