Diarrhea Planet Runs Around North America
Despite its foul moniker, the Nashville-based group has been attracting more than flies, as it just performed on “Late Night with Seth Myers” and dropped its third album, Turn To Gold. The wealth of guitarists onstage during the band’s live performances give it plenty of opportunities for sequential guitar solos. Along with guitarists Jordan Smith, Brent Toler, Emmett Miller and Evan Bird, the lineup features bassist Mike Boyle and Drummer Ian Bush.
The recently announced headline shows flow through October, kicking off in Livingston, Mont., Aug. 23. From there the schedule gets messy, with a few dates in each region, though big markets like California and Florida are not in the routing.

A backstage video from “Late Night with Seth Myers” showed Diarrhea Planet’s members’ response to the common question of why the rockers chose the name. Smith explained, “We wanted to name our band the worst band name ever.”
There you have it. But please, no one tell Car Seat Headrest or The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die that Diarrhea Planet thinks it has won the bad name competition.
