The National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police have determined that the cause of death of five persons was “party drugs,” and are continuing with their investigation to find out if the drugs were sold at the venue, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Nevertheless, the families of three of the victims have filed suit against the Closeup Forever Summer Concert.

The NBI has already arrested six people and charged them with selling illegal substances, though they have yet to determine if these suspects can be tied to the five deaths. The suit is a class-action suit, according to the families’ attorney, who told the media, “They have agreed to pursue a common goal.”

The families will be suing for “criminal negligence,” in addition to other complaints yet to be determined. The companies behind the concert are Closeup and Unilever, which have been asked to provide pertinent documents showing who might be responsible.

Even if the organizers had fulfilled all the safety and security requirements for the event, said the lawyer, “they should have been diligent enough to provide everything necessary to prevent these deaths.”
