Plaza Live Orlando Reopens

Plaza Live Orlando, the Florida venue where rising artist Christina Grimmie was murdered following a June 10 concert, reopens June 16 for a show by Yacht Rock Revue, according to the theatre’s website.

“We continue to grieve the loss of talented young artist Christina Grimmie as well as the many lives so tragically lost early Sunday morning at The Pulse,” General Manager Jim Heffelfinger said in a posting to the venue’s home page.

“We continue to work with Orlando Police in this ongoing investigation and whom we have invited to evaluate our security practices and protocols. We extend our heartfelt thanks for the community’s outpouring of support and we continue to keep Central Florida, friends and families in our thoughts and prayers,” the statement continued.

Grimmie was shot while signing autographs at a merch table by Kevin Loibl, who was tackled by Grimmie’s brother Marcus and killed himself in the struggle. She had performed as the opener for Before You Exit.

Two days later, 49 people were murdered a couple of miles away at The Pulse by a man claiming ISIS connections who was able to enter the nightclub with an assault weapon and a handgun.
