Of Montreal Reaches For ‘Innocence’

A new album supported by lots of shows is what Of Montreal has in mind.  Locales hosting Kevin Barnes & Co. include Philadelphia, Detroit, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Austin and San Francisco.

Of Montreal’s 14th album, Innocence Reaches, drops Aug. 12 via Polyvinyl.  The LP’s major surprise for longtime followers just might be the inclusion of electronica and EDM influences.

“Forever I’ve been detached from current music,” Barnes said.  “I got into this bubble of only  being in some other time period.  I came up picking apart The Beach Boys, The Beatles, and symphonic pieces.   But last year, I was hearing Jack Ü, Chairlift, Arca and others, thinking about low end and sound collage. It was an extra layer to geek out on.”

You can preorder Innocence Reaches via this link.  The LP’s first single is “it’s different for girls.”
