Police SWAT Summer Jam Violence

A large number of the assaults occurred outside the venue on the surrounding lawn, and WJAR-10 reported police had to call for backup from neighboring departments twice after finding the initial number of officers insufficient.

By the end of the concert SWAT vans and K-9 units were present, which police said was effective at discouraging festivalgoers from getting into further fights.

The Live Nation-owned venue’s manager, Jeff Mann, said during a meeting that the response from authorities was extreme and “made people really nervous as they were leaving the venue.”

The show featured performances from Fetty Wap, Ty Dolla $ign, Kid Ink, Fabolous and Xfinity Center.
