Shovels & Rope Announces New Album & Tour

A post on Shovels & Rope’s Facebook page explains how to add some joy to your autumn plans: “You can now exchange US dollars for pieces of paper that will let you into a room where Shovels & Rope will play glorious songs for you to listen to.” Pretty simple, right?

Husband and wife duo Michael Trent and Cary Ann Heart also have a new album to talk up.

Little Seeds is due out Oct. 7 via New West Records as the follow-up to the band’s 2015 covers album, Busted Jukebox Vol. 1. Shovels & Rope’s last collection of original material, Swimmin’ Time, was released in 2014.

The duo’s rep known as “El Jefe” explains that the band has experienced “a lot of life” in the last few years.

“And we know that a lot of life has happened in everyone’s world the last few years. We’ve all been served an adult portion. This is easily the most personal record that Shovels & Rope has ever made, it’s very very real. I couldn’t be more proud of them and what they’ve created with Little Seeds.”

For a taste of the new music, check out the single “I Know.”
