MMJ’s Carl Broemel Hits The Road

My Morning Jacket’s Carl Broemel will see his own name at the top of the marquee this fall. The guitarist has announced a run of October gigs in support of his upcoming solo album, along with a handful of August performances.

The LP, 4th of July, is set for release Aug. 19 via Thirty Tigers.

“I’ve been working on this record between album cycles and tours in Nashville. Think of it as a reflective meditation examining the passage of time and how life looks now compared to the visions we’ve held onto from the past,” Broemel explained in a post on Facebook.

Broemel worked with producer Teddy Morgan on the album and collaborated with fellow MMJ members Bo Koster and Tom Blankenship. Guest appearances include Neko Case, Laura Veirs, Russ Pollard, Shelly Colvin, Richard Medek, and Jordan Caress.
