James Vincent McMorrow Moves To Tomorrow

As James Vincent McMorrow is preparing for the launch of what he is referring to as a landmark new album, he has announced a series of North American headline dates for the fall.

All but one of the shows take place in November. The run starts with a Nov. 7 gig at  in New York and runs to Dec. 1 at  in Los Angeles, where part of the upcoming We Move LP was composed. Prior to North America he is all around Europe, with an extended period in the UK.

Due out Sept. 2, We Move is a step in a new direction for the Irish singer/songwriter, as McMorrow said in a Facebook post that it is his most lyrically forthcoming and emotionally open work.

“In every part of this new album I see myself. I hear it in every lyric and every note. And it’s still terrifying. But it’s exactly what I needed to make. Because I can’t be the person I want to be, or the musician I want to be, unless I pursue what I hear without hesitation.”

He also released a lyric video showcasing the album’s musical style, which is anchored in the philosophy “there is no reason why dancing and heavyheartedness need to be mutually exclusive things.”

Although he has been deep in his feelings while writing this most recent album, McMorrow has also been getting his name out there. His cover of “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak was featured in the teaser for season six of “Game of Thrones” and McMorrow recently collaborated with EDM sensation  on a song for the latter’s debut album.
