Ben Folds Books Solo U.S. Tour

Ben Folds is gearing up for a solo road trip throughout the States. The singer/songwriter/producer has announced dates for a tour that’s being called “Ben Folds: A Piano & A Playpen.”

The outing is described as reminiscent of his first solo tour in 2001, which impressed “skeptics by delivering a high energy rock performance using the intimacy of just a piano.” Although this tour has piano in its title, Folds is planning on showing off his classic and current pop songs by improvising with a bunch of different instruments. He’ll also entertain the crowds by telling stories and interacting with fans.

This summer Folds is continuing to tour with yMusic, a New York-based classical ensemble which he collaborated with on his most recent album, 2015’s So There. Along with eight chamber pop songs, the LP includes the debut recording of Folds’ “Concerto for Piano and Orchestra,” performed with the Nashville Symphony. Upcoming dates include Wednesday’s show in Lewiston, N.Y., and an Australian tour in August.
