Utica Venue For Sale
The historic Uptown Theatre in Utica, N.Y., will be up for auction July 27.

The theatre opened in 1927 and closed in 2013 because it lacked community support. The current owner bought the venue in 2007 and renovated the lobby. In 2012 the stage and backstage area were renovated in hopes of hosting live performances and events.
A judgment of foreclosure and sale was decided by the State Supreme Court in May. More than $403,000 is owed to the mortgage company. The building also houses the Green Onion Pub, which is expected to continue operation.
