Beyoncé earned two nominations, as an executive producer and co-director of HBO’s “Lemonade,” while Adele earned a nomination as executive producer of NBC’s “Adele Live In New York City.” Both specials earned a total of four nominations each.

Beyoncé and Adele’s programs are nominated for outstanding variety special, where both singers earned nominations as executive producers.

Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” was an album accompanied with an HBO special featuring music videos for each track. The singer is nominated for outstanding directing for a variety special with “Lemonade,” which she shares with co-director Kahlil Joseph, while “Lemonade” is also up for outstanding picture editing for a variety special and production design for a variety, nonfiction, event or award special.

Adele’s special aired last year from Radio City Music Hall and featured live performances of songs from her earth-shattering comeback album, 25. It will also compete for outstanding directing for a variety special; lighting direction for a variety special; and technical direction, camerawork, video control for a limited series, movie or special.
