An Evening With Maynard James Keenan

Maynard James Keenan is offering fans a “rare moment of direct interaction” this fall, with Q&A sessions planned as part of his book tour in support of the upcoming authorized biography “A Perfect Union of Contrary Things.”

Due out Nov. 8 via Backbeat Books, the biography is penned by longtime friend Sarah Jensen and includes passages in the musician’s own words as well as commentary by family members, friends, instructors and industry colleagues.

Keenan, who fronts Tool, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, explains to Rolling Stone, “I approached her, because she’s a writer, to see if she was interested in helping me work on a semi-autobiography. Because I didn’t really want to write it as an autobiography, first-person – I’d rather have it be more in story form, like you’re kind of along for the journey, with sidebars by me throughout, in my voice, kind of expanding on particular instances or anecdotes.”

Following a run of October gigs with Tool, Keenan hits the road for the book tour in November. So far, stops are planned in Nashville, New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C. “An Evening With Maynard James Keenan” will feature a moderated discussion about the book, passages read by Keenan, never-before-seen photos and videos, and questions from the audiences.
