Pet Shop Boys is supporting its 13th studio album, Super, which was released in April on the group’s x2 through Kobalt Label Services.

A review from Consequence of Sound notes that, “Super, like most of their catalog, is firmly planted well within the heart of the dance floor.”

The write-up goes on to say, “Despite being best known for songs nearly 30 years old, the Pet Shop Boys have always maintained a relevancy and a true connection to what was happening within the subculture of electronic music. Super reflects a lot of that. ‘Happiness’ comes off rhythmically like a duet between the Pet Shop Boys and Hot Chip, while ‘Undertow’ is late ’90s Madonna.”

On Wednesday Pet Shop Boys kicks off a four-night sold-out residency at London’s Royal Opera House. The duo headlines the U.S. in late October and November, followed by a run of European gigs.

The 2017 “Super Tour” – featuring new songs, classic hits and album tracks, with production based on the Royal Opera House shows – begins in Leeds, England.
