T-Mobile Arena Burns B-Ball Fans

Fans who purchased tickets to see a USA basketball exhibition match in Las Vegas were left outside in 100-degree desert heat during the tip-off July 26.

ultimately refunded about 500 tickets, as traffic conditions and a high volume of will-call tickets resulted in huge lines that caused many to miss the game.

MGM Resorts Senior Vice President Rick Arpin told ESPN Las Vegas that 60 percent of the tickets to the U.S. vs. Argentina basketball game were purchased just days before the event, mostly through Groupon, which doesn’t allow tickets to be printed at home.

MGM spokeswoman Mary Hynes said most of those stuck in line got in or were offered refunds by the second quarter.

T-Mobile Arena opened in April and is set to host the iHeartRadio Music Festival Sept. 23-24. Arpin said the venue acknowledged its fault and would take steps to prevent future mishaps.
