The Motet’s Totemic Tour

The Motet announces “Phase 1” of its autumn tour supporting its latest album. The outing includes the band’s Halloween Mixtape shows in Dallas, Houston, Austin and Asheville, N.C.

Totem was released a few weeks ago marking the band’s seventh LP. A 100% review from Sound & Silence magazine says, “The songs are melodic and steeped in sweaty dance grooves that are extremely entertaining and well-crafted … Totem is a solid record from start to finish and one of the most assured and accomplished releases of 2016.”

The upcoming trek debuts “Mixtape 1979” Oct. 26-28 and Oct. 31. The cover set gigs feature the band performing the music of its favorite funk musicians. The Motet will also appear at Suwannee Hulaween in Live Oak, Fla. The festival runs Oct. 28-30 and set times have yet to be unveiled.

Lyle Divinsky joined the band earlier this year, taking over for longtime vocalist Jans Ingber.

“There was a month and a half between the time I joined the band and when we went into the studio,” Divinsky said. “I wound up writing the lyrics and melodies to four songs, and re-wrote the lyrics to two. It gave me and the band an opportunity to really connect musically. We’re deeply proud of this album and it’s very exciting to have this new material to push out as we begin this next phase of The Motet’s journey.”

Other members include Dave Watts (drums), Joey Porter (keyboards), Garrett Sayers (bass), Ryan Jalbert (guitar), Gabriel Mervine (trumpet) and Drew Sayers (saxophone).
