Mac Sabbath, Clownvis Presley Cook Up Tour

For metal fans that love clowning around, cover-comedy acts Mac Sabbath and Clownvis Presley are joining forces for several weeks in North America, starting next month.

The “Clown Power Tour 2016” opens with a performance at the  in Las Vegas Aug. 25. From there, the shows mostly move through the Midwest and Northeast, largely avoiding the South and the West Coast, before wrapping up in Albuquerque, N.M. Sept. 16. Mac Sabbath also plays Sept. 17 in Tucson, Ariz., and has shows booked through October and November, but Clownvis will not be joining for those gigs.

Mac Sabbath is a McDonald’s-themed

The “Clown Power Tour 2016” opens with a performance at the  cover band that modifies the lyrics of metal classics and performs them as the fast-food inspired characters Ronald Osbourne, Slayer MacCheeze, The Cat Burglar and Grimalice. The band isn’t big on recording material, but it transforms songs like “Iron Man” into “Frying Pan” and “Sweet Leaf” into “Sweet Beef” with smoke machines and outrageous costumes to boot.

Here is a clip of the spectacle:

Clownvis Presley is a rock act that uses the King’s musical and aesthetic style. While Mac Sabbath stays close to the theme of fast food, Clownvis is more broad in his parody, mocking The Fresh Prince, President Obama and the founder of Christianity. Although the intensity of Mac Sabbath is more likely to put off audiences unfamiliar with metal, Clownvis’s humor seems more likely to offend the scrupulous listener.
