The next day, new signage goes up outside the 18,100-capacity arena. The Gretzky statue was moved to downtown Edmonton, while the old Rexall signs – along with a dozen or so dead pigeons reportedly found inside one of them – came down Aug. 8.

The Edmonton Oilers played their last game in the arena in April and move to Rogers Place next season. Meanwhile, Northlands Coliseum is expected to be used for concerts and minor league sports.
