Eskimeaux Preps For Fall Excursion
Eskimeaux began as an experimental recording project by songwriter/producer Gabrielle Smith in 2007. Smith went on to form The Epoch in 2011, which is a collective of Brooklyn-based artists, and began to develop her sound into structured indie pop songs.
Smith released the full-length album, O.K., with praise from the critics. NPR featured the work on its All Songs Considered Top 10 Albums of 2015. Eskimeaux’s latest LP, Year of the Rabbit, is a six song collection on the Double Double Whammy label. The mini album is available on colored etched vinyl via DDW’s website and will be in stores Sept. 16.
When Smith performs live, she is joined by Oliver Kalb, Felix Walworth and Jack Greenleaf. The Year of the Rabbit is said to have a more naturally produced sound compared to the “highly produced and overdubbed sound” of earlier recordings.
