Starring Dwight Yoakam

Dwight Yoakam announces a release date for his bluegrass collaborative album and unveils a tour schedule that will keep him busy through early December.

Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars … is due out Sept. 23 via Sugar Hill Records. The album showcases Yoakam’s love of bluegrass music via reinterpretations of 11 tunes from the legendary singer/songwriter’s catalogue.

Yoakam is joined on the album by nine-time international Bluegrass Music Association Guitar Player of the Year Bryan Sutton and Grammy winners Stuart Duncan on fiddle and banjo and Barry Bales on bass, along with Adam Steffey on mandolin (Alison Krauss) and Scott Vestal on banjo (Sam Bush). Harmony vocals are provided by Jonathan Clark, Brain Whelan, Davey Faragher and Bryan Joyce.

Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars … was produced by nine-time Grammy winner Gary Paczosa, Jon Randall and Yoakam. Chris Lord Alge mixed the LP, which was recorded at Southern Ground Studio in Nashville and Capitol Records Studio B in Los Angeles.
