Norah Jones’ ‘Day Break’ Excursion

Norah Jones sets out on a North American and European outing in support of her upcoming album, “Day Break.” The trek includes stops in Vancouver, Los Angeles, London and Paris.

The nine-time Grammy winner drops her sixth solo album Oct. 7 via Blue Note Records. The release features jazz celebrities Wayne Shorter (saxophone), Dr. Lonnie Smith (organ) and Brian Blade (drums). Twelve tracks are included on the new LP, nine originals and three covers of songs by Duke Ellington, Horace Silver, and Neil Young.

The first single, “Carry On,” is out today and is available instantly with pre-ordered downloads of Day Break on the Norah Jones Store or iTunes Store. Or if you prefer your sounds on wax, Barnes & Noble will be carrying the 180-gram orange vinyl version of the album.

“This new album feels full circle because I’m going back to my early influences,” Jones said. “After the first record, I drifted away from the piano a little bit. I still played it, but was more inspired to write on guitar. I really loved playing piano on this record.”
