Stick Figure

When Monterey International agent Patrick McAuliff discovered reggae band Stick Figure via iTunes several years ago information about the act was scarce.

“I was extremely impressed with [Stick Figure]’s music from the first listen. When I started researching the band I couldn’t find much of a presence online outside of Myspace and Facebook,” McAuliff told Pollstar. “There were zero upcoming tour dates and there wasn’t much industry awareness either. There was a mystery to the band that intrigued me along with the quality of the music.”

Stick Figure was the creation of Scott Woodruff who wrote, recorded and produced several albums on his own. McAuliff said Woodruff was open to the idea of touring but didn’t have a band for live shows. All that changed when Stick Figure was offered a support slot on The Green’s 2012 fall U.S. tour.

With Woodruff on guitar and vocals, Kevin Bong on keyboards, Kevin Offitzer on drums, bassist Tommy Suliman and Cocoa The Tour Dog – Woodruff’s popular Australian Shepherd – Stick Figure has toured with acts including Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, Collie Buddz, and Dirty Heads as well as headlining its own dates.

Ineffable Music Group’s Thomas Cussins said he could see the band’s appeal early on when Stick Figure played a small festival he booked in New Mexico in 2013.

“I could tell [Woodruff] was a normal guy, so down to earth and genuine,” Cussins told Pollstar. “Then I called a lot of people I trust in the business and asked about Stick Figure. The ones that did know [Woodruff] loved the sound, but most people did not know him yet. It indicated to me there was a larger market with whom to share his music.

“At a Stick Figure show you will see families with small children, grandmas, teenagers, reggae fans, jam fans, Burning Man fans. There’s a real connection with anyone who experiences the music.”

Stick Figure is touring the U.S. and Mexico through the end of the year.
