Ft. Wayne Mainstay Piere’s Closes

Piere’s Entertainment Center in Fort Wayne, Ind., has closed at least temporarily while it undergoes an “extensive remodel” under new ownership of Indiana-based Headliner Marketing.

A note posted on the venue’s doors Aug. 5 reportedly informed patrons the 1,800-capacity venue was closed and referred ticketholders to Ticketmaster. But the shutdown appears to have taken some by surprise and includes canceled shows with In This MomentBlind GuardianChevelle, and Skillet, according to WPTA-TV.

The Skillet show has been moved to  in Grand Rapids, Mich.

“Piere’s has a great tradition of concerts. There’s been a lot of great memories made there and we inted to create an atmosphere for more,” Kent Christon, the venue’s new GM, told WANE-TV.

“The traditions of Piere’s to me is a great one to uphold and I’m excited about being there and getting the building renovated and getting us ready for this new launch.”

A call to Piere’s went to a voice mail and has not been returned.
