Bayou Country Superfest Seeks New Home

Bayou Country Superfest needs a new location as Louisiana State University plans to renovate  in Baton Rouge.

A venue in Gonzales, La., has already shown interest in hosting the festival. The renovations will begin after the 2016-17 football season and include overhauls to concession stands, bathrooms and other facility improvements.

Ascension Parish officials offered th as an option for the event, according to WBRZ-TV.

“Lamar Dixon provides the best opportunity to retain Bayou Country Superfest in the Capital Region,” Expo Center GM Kyle Rogers said. “We are ready to show promoters and fans alike our capacity and capability for festivals just like this one.”

Bayou Country Superfest began in 2010 and takes place over the Memorial Day weekend with a replacement of the stadium field after each festival.

Attendance for this year reached 100,000, which is down from last year’s 125,000, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
