MMJ’s Jim James Books A Few

Folks playing along with Hardly Strictly Bluegrass’ medley guessing game might have noticed a clip from Jim James. The My Morning Jacket frontman confirmed the appearance along with a few other solo California tour dates.

The clip is a sample of “State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U.),” the first track on James’ debut solo album, 2013’s Regions of Light and Sound of God.

Along with his solo material, perhaps James will perform some tunes from My Morning Jacket’s catalogue. Last year the band released its seventh studio album, The Waterfall.

Here’s the plan for the brief outing, which includes a gig with Conor Oberst.

Sept. 28 – Pioneertown, Calif., Pappy And Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace
Sept. 29 – Ventura, Calif., Majestic Ventura Theater
Sept. 30 – San Francisco, Calif., Speedway Meadow @Golden Gate Park ()
Oct. 1 – San Francisco, Calif., The Fillmore (appearing with Conor Oberst)

Twin Limb joins James on the road Sept. 28-29.

The Fillmore show is on sale now. Tickets for Pioneertown and Venture will be available Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. PDT. No tickets are required for the free Hardly Strictly Bluegrass.
