Seu Jorge Announces Tribute Tour To David Bowie
Jorge appeared in the 2004 film as one of the crew members of Zissou’s research vessel who spent his free time performing acoustic versions of Bowie songs in Portuguese.
The soundtrack include Jorge’s covers of “Rebel Rebel,” “Rock & Roll Suicide,” “Five Years” and “Life On Mars?” In 2005 Jorge released The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions, including those tunes along with other Bowie selections, such as “Ziggy Stardust,” “Changes” and “Oh! You Pretty Things.” He also threw in an original composition called “Team Zissou.”
If you’re bilingual in both English and Portuguese you might have noticed that the lyrics aren’t exact translations.
“I changed the words quite a lot,” Jorge told Entertainment Weekly (via Encylopedia.com). “I wanted each song to be about a different character.”
