Tricky Presents ‘Skilled Mechanics’ Tour
Skilled Mechanics dropped its self-titled debut in January via Tricky’s False Idols label. The Bristol native began working on the project after moving to Berlin. The album features special guests DJ Milo, Luke Harris, Ivy, Oh Land, Ann Doa, Francesca Belmonte, and Xdare.
Tricky kicked off his solo career in the mid-nineties and has worked with numerous artists over the years experimenting with multiple genres such as trip hop, indie and electronic. He explained where the name for Skilled Mechanics came from.
“It’s from a documentary about espionage,” Tricky said. “There was an ex-C.I.A. agent on this programme speaking about assassins who were sent abroad by the U.S. to start revolutions and topple governments. He called them ‘skilled mechanics.’ I thought that was a great name for someone who was a killer basically. The name was so dark and cynical it just stuck with me.”
