Petty Fest Talks Up Lineup
Petty Fest happens Sept. 13 at The Fonda Theatre. The event is presented by Best Fest, the organization responsible for charitable events such as
As always, the Cabin Down Below Band will serve as Petty Fest’s house band.
Best Fest has entered into a new partnership with Refuge Foundation For The Arts. Created by Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Cory Chisel and his partner Adriel Denae, the Foundation’s mission is “Helping Artists Create.”
“Refuge Foundation is a way for musicians and artists to take care of our own,” Chisel said. “Our goal is to free the artist’s creative and business process from the strictures of the current model, which can often become an economic stranglehold for artists, especially when it comes to musicians, record labels, and the business of making records.”
With the Best Fest / Refugee Foundation alliance focusing on emerging artists, the partnership has announced its first “artist in residence,” 35-year-old J-Council, who will perform at Petty Fest.
“Refugee Foundation offered me the time, money, and the freedom to help me write and create my own message,” J-Council said. “The chance to perform alongside so many incredible artists at Petty Fest is just crazy!”
Tickets for Petty Fest go on sale Aug. 26. Ticket sale proceeds will benefit the Refuge Foundation For The Arts. Click here for details.
