Alesso, Skrillex For Music Summit

The third International Music Summit Asia-Pacific will take place in Shanghai Sept. 29-30 at the Hyatt on the Bund.

According to a press release put out by the IMS, “global artists, thought-leaders and industry figureheads [will] explore the growing influence of electronic music and the issues, challenges and opportunities that face the industry globally and in Asia.”

Alesso and Skrillex are scheduled as speakers at the summit. Skrillex will bring his Meet Team OWSLA session, which will discuss “the strategies, successes and challenges of taking their sound and style across Asia-Pacific.”

Topics will include recording in Korea, the influence of Japan, synergy with Chinese studios, and touring strategies for Southeast Asia. Alesso will talk about working with local Asian artists as a means of connecting to regional audiences. In addition, IMS will present some of the biggest “stories” in Asia, including those of Asian pop queen Jolin Tsai, leading underground Thai DJ Nakadia, and 17-year-old Chinese prodigy Chace.

Touring companies WME, AM Only and Coda will “explain how and why they are focused on the expanding Asian market,” and some of the region’s biggest promoters will provide “insight into the size, scale and unique character of Asian markets.”

The Shanghai event will be IMS’s sole project in the region. Attendance is expected to top 30,000 a day.
