Sly & Robbie Announce Dates

Reggae icons Sly & Robbie and The Taxi Gang jet out on a U.S. tour in September. The trek stops in the Midwest and along the West Coast before wrapping in Hawaii.

The first show kicks off in Kansas City, Mo., at Knuckleheads Sept. 17 and the next stop is in Tulsa, Okla., at Guthrie Green Park Sept. 18. The group then heads over to California for five gigs before hitting Oregon and Washington. The last two performances take place at The Blue Note in Honolulu Sept. 30 and Oct. 2.

Sly Dunbar (drums) and Robbie Shakespeare (bass) joined forces in the mid ’70s and have been working together recording and producing for over 40 years. They’re also known as “The Riddim Twins” and are widely acknowledged as the “world’s greatest rhythm section.”

The duo have their own label, Taxi Records, and have worked with many legendary artists throughout their career including Bob DylanThe Rolling StonesCarlos Santana and Paul McCartney. The Taxi Gang includes a horn section and features top Jamaican recording musicians.
