Mike Peters Spreads Love, Hope & Strength

The Alarm’s Mike Peters has an eventful September ahead. His Love Hope Strength Foundation hosts a charity event on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., Sept. 6 before he sets out on a North American tour the next day.

Being a cancer survivor himself, Peters co-founded LHSF in 2007. The organization has registered more than 100,000 bone marrow donors since 2008 by hosting cheek swab drives at festival and concerts.

LHSF will partner with We Delete Blood Cancer for the upcoming “Get On The List” event in the Capital Building Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room HVC-200 in the Capital Visitor Center. The partnership has invited U.S. senators, congressmen, government employees, staff and visitors to register for the donor drive. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer will co-host the honorary event.

Meanwhile, Peters preps for the forthcoming celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Alarm’s “Spirit Of ’86” concert, which aired on MTV and was one of the “first live satellite broadcasts ever.” The Welsh band formed in 1981 and is known for hits such as “The Stand,” “Sixty-Eight Guns” and “Strength.”
