Sully Erna Announces ‘Hometown Tour’

With Godsmack taking a break from touring this year, it gives vocalist/guitarist Sully Erna the chance to do his own thing. He’s unveiled the routing for an acoustic U.S. outing to go along with the release of his new solo album.

Described as “a personal, confessional, raw work,” Hometown Life is the follow-up to Erna’s 2010 debut solo LP, Avalon.

In contrast to the heavy metal you’d expect from a new Godsmack album, Hometown Life offers a “mix of blues country and adult contemporary, all layered with orchestral overtones.” The album is due out Sept. 30 via BMG.

Check out the track “Different Kind Of Tears,” which was written with songwriter/producer Zac Maloy, who has worked with Tim McGraw and Carrie Underwood.

Erna will be accompanied on the acoustic tour by guitarist Tim Theriault. Here’s the plan:
