Rape Charges Dropped

Rape charges against a Michigan tour manager have been dropped as investigators were unable to contact the alleged victim after multiple attempts.

Steven Welc, tour manager for Emblem3, was charged in June with indecent assault and rape after an incident at the House of Blues in Boston, according to the Boston Herald.

Prosecutor David McGowan filed a legal notice Aug. 16 that dropped the charges against Welc. “Despite extensive efforts by police and prosecutors, we have been unable to communicate with the victim, leaving us unable to prove the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt,” spokesman for the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office Jake Wark said.

Welc pleaded not guilty to the charges.
