Vevo Expanding In New Zealand

Hot on the heels of U.S. deals with Warner Music and MTV’s VMAs, music and entertainment content platform Vevo is expanding its footprint in New Zealand.

Its content was streamed 50 million times in New Zealand through July. It has now appointed major radio, TV and digital broadcaster MediaWorks as its exclusive premium video sales partner in that country.

Vevo chief revenue officer Nic Jones pointed out, “The digital advertising outlook for New Zealand is poised for continuing double-digit growth over the next five years and this collaboration will allow us to capitalise on the ever increasing demand for music videos in the local market.”

MediaWorks already reaches 96 percent of the New Zealand population through its brands on radio (including The Rock FM, Mai FM and The Edge FM), TV channel TV3, events including the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, and digital and live platforms.

Its acting chief commercial officer, Glen Kyne, commented, “Our partnership will allow us to reach more New Zealanders than ever before, and be the prime location for any advertiser looking to purchase premium digital content and connect to engaged audiences.”
