Patty Griffin Goes Acoustic

The “Lampedusa: Concerts For Refugees” tour with Emmylou Harris and Buddy Miller isn’t the only place to catch Patty Griffin on stage this fall. She’s announced dates for an acoustic excursion that runs from late October through late November.  

Griffin’s acoustic tour kicks off with two rare club dates at New York’s City Winery Oct. 30-31. Stops on the routing include Chicago, Des Moines, Nashville and Atlanta.

She’ll also playing two gigs with John Prine in Iowa.

Griffin is continuing to showcase 2015’s Servant of Love, which is the singer/songwriter’s 10th album.

NPR proclaims, “Every Patty Griffin song arrives fully and perfectly formed, which is perhaps her greatest gift. She doesn’t require explanation or context, and she doesn’t have material that requires lead-up to enjoy. Her songwriting is honest and compassionate no matter the subject, her voice uniquely compelling and her guitar work unfailingly evocative.”

The previously announced Lampedusa tour begins Oct. 6 in Boulder, Colo., and wraps up in Washington, D.C., Oct. 21. Select dates feature Steve Earle, The Milk Carton Kids and additional special guests. All proceeds go to Jesuit Refugee Service’s Global Education Initiative, which provides “education opportunities for refugees living in camps and in urban settings worldwide,” according to the Boulder Theater.
