Primal Scream Echoes In U.K.

Now that frontman Bobby Gillespie is recovered from his recent tumble off a stage, not only is Primal Scream already in the midst of ripping up U.K. stages, but the group has announced another run on the continent in November with Bo Ningen.

The new dates start Nov. 21 at  in Edinburgh, Scotland and continue until Dec. 15 at the  in London.

Primal Scream’s next performance is tomorrow in Leeds, England, at . After that there is one more U.K. gig in Manchester, England at Victoria Warehouse Sept. 24.

After its current run, the band hits Japan Oct. 18 and 20 and then the Americas until Nov. 13. Most of those dates in the Americas are in the Northern continent, from Nov. 1 in New York until a night in Condesa, Mexico, Nov. 9. There are two South American shows scheduled in Santiago, Chile, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, Nov. 12 and 13 respectively.

Fans will no doubt be glad to see Gillespie and his bandmates’ return. A good number of Primal Scream’s summer performances, mostly European festival appearances, were axed after the frontman fell off the stage during a performance at  in Switzerland June 2.

After resting for eight weeks, Gillespie played with the group in Glasgow, Scotland, Aug. 11. Another difficulty the band had to face in recent history was the death of cofounder Robert “Throb” Young in 2014 over the weekend of Sept. 6-7, although he was not a member of Primal Scream at the time.

The group is promoting music from its latest album, Chaosmosis, which was released in March. The LP probably fits best into the electro-pop genre, and is substantially different from a lot of the group’s other work. 2013’s More Light is slower, and sounds much more like an indie-rock band, but fans of the band say one of its strengths is the number of styles it can switch between.
