Knitting Spaceland Together

Knitting Factory Entertainment and Spaceland Presents have grown their relationship, which began in 2014, with the former acquiring a 49 percent stake in the latter.

The move comes after 18 months of growth for Knitting Factory, which has opened new restaurants in Brooklyn and North Hollywood, signed new venue deals in New York, Montana, Nebraska and California, hired several new execs and inked partnerships including with Rachael Ray and the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.

The latest partnership is presented as a natural economy of scale, with the portfolios combining talent buying, marketing, ticketing and promotion.

KFE and Spaceland Presents each own and operate several clubs, bars and restaurants, although KFE’s investment is said to enable to take Spaceland’s “unique indie spirit on the road,” producing more events and festivals and taking advantage of Spaceland’s background in outdoor events.

The two began working together in 2014 when they opened the Regent Theatre with a third partner in Los Angeles. They will be presenting, along with Moon Block, the fifth annual Desert Daze in Joshua Tree, Calif., Oct. 14-16.
