Alice In Chains & STP To Rock 2017’s Fantasy Camp
The camp takes place over Presidents Day Weekend Feb. 16-19 in Hollywood, Calif.
All levels of musicians and music enthusiasts are welcome at the Fantasy Camp, with classes offered on all instruments, practice techniques, showmanship and more. The weekend includes themed jam rooms, the chance to present your original songs at a counselor roundtable, and a final night performance at the legendary Whisky A Go Go on the Sunset Strip.
In addition to jamming with members of Alice in Chains and STP, Rock ’n’ Roll Fantasy Camp offers attendees the opportunity to rehearse under the guidance of rock star counselors including Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio), Jason Sutter (Chris Cornell), Tracii Guns (LA Guns) and Peter Klett (Candlebox).
Previous camp headliners have included Jeff Beck, Tony Iommi, Roger Daltrey, Joe Perry, Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar and Gene Simmons. 2017 marks the first-ever camp with Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez and the DeLeo brothers.
Alice In Chains and Stone Temple Pilots have both left a mark on the rock scene since forming in the mid-80s, with their mix of alternative, metal and grunge elements.
Over the course of its career Alice In Chains has sold nearly 35 million albums worldwide, racked up 21 Top-40 singles and earned nine Grammy nominations. The band is responsible for hits such as “No Excuses,” “Heaven Beside You,” “Check My Brain,” and “Your Decision.”
Cantrell has been with the band since its start in 1987, handling lead guitar and sharing lead vocal duties with William DuVall. Inez took over as bassist for Alice In Chains in 1993.
Stone Temple Pilots can boast about selling nearly 40 million records worldwide and scoring 16 Top-10 singles. Along with the Grammy-award winning song “Plush,” STP’s catalog includes “Vasoline,” “Interstate Love Song,” “Big Bang Baby” and “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart.”
The DeLeo brothers formed STP in 1985 with drummer Eric Kretz and lead vocalist Scott Weiland. Dean DeLeo plays guitar and Robert is on bass.
