LN To Book MGM National Harbor

Live Nation inked a deal to book and promote The Theatre at MGM National Harbor, a 3,000-seat venue at the $1.4 billion resort and casino going in at National Harbor, Md.   

Ticketmaster will be the exclusive ticket vendor. The venue offers flexible configurations that can offer general admission capacities of slightly more than 4,000, including 360-degree arrangements for events such as UFC matches, according to the announcement.

The Theatre at MGM National Harbor promises “A-list performers and high-profile events normally reserved for large-scale arenas” in an intimate settings with top shelf amenities.

The venue expects to host concerts, conedy shows, UFC, cabaret-style acts and boxing matches, among others. The venue will be able to host convention banquets and speaking engagements with scalable chair and table designs, with catering provided by the resort. VIP suites will feature private entrances, a VIP lobby with full-service bar, personalized catering offerings and center suites that can be combined to host up to 200 guests.

“Together Live Nation and The Theatre at MGM National Harbor will open up a whole new array of live entertainment offerings in the [Washington], DC, area,” said Ted Mankin, VP of booking for Live Nation U.S. concerts. “The scale and flexibility of the venue give our team the opportunity to demonstrate their comprehensive talent booking skills.

“Live nation and MGM are both focused on providing g our fans and guests with the best experiences possible, which makes this exclusive partnership a very natural fit,” Mankin said. It also adds another entertainment option in the broader Washington, D.C., market that is expected to add a 6,000-seat concert hall as part of the Southwest Waterfront redevelopment plan opening next year – one booked by rival IMP and owner Seth Hurwitz.

IMP books the 9:30 Club, Lincoln Theatre, U Street Music Hall and Echostage in Washington, as well as Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md. Live Nation venues in the region include the Fillmore in Silver Springs, Md., Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Va., and Warner Theatre in Washington.
