Prince Tribute Announces Venue & Lineup

Stevie Wonder and members of Prince’s “inner circle” are on the lineup for a tribute set for Oct. 13 in the Twin Cities.  But the location isn’t U.S. Bank Stadium and the city isn’t Minneapolis.

Rather than take over an entire NFL football stadium, the tribute concert has booked the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul.  The lineup also includes Christina Aguilera, Chaka Khan, John Mayer, Tori Kelly, Anita Baker, Doug E. Fresh, Luke James, Bilal and Mint Condition. The lineup also includes The New Power Generation led by Morris Hayes, plus members of 3RDEYEGIRL.

Who’s in Prince’s “inner circle?”  That would be Morris Day And The Time, Judith Hill and Liv Warfield

When Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, announced the show in July, she said the venue would be the U.S. Bank Stadium.  Within the last 48 hours, Minneapolis’ Star Tribune reported that the venue did not have a signed contract for the show.

Now Prince’s fans throughout the world who took off work, bought airline tickets and made hotel reservations can breathe a sigh of relief.  The show will happen on the date as planned, just a slight shift in location and municipality.
