Maná Adds To North American Routing

Legendary Mexican pop act Maná has tacked a few more stops onto its routing as it continues to move through California and into the rest of the U.S.

The three of the five added dates are in the Golden State in November, and two of them are at the end of the routing, Nov. 18 and 19 in San Diego and Anaheim respectively. The routing also includes a second night in Chicago’s

Hidalgo, Texas also gets a performance Nov. 5. That will be the second time Maná moves through Texas on this run.

The group has proclaimed it is hauling “80 tons of state of the art concert production gear” on the road for this trek. Here at Pollstar, we figured that if you estimate an elephant’s weight at about 15,000 lbs or 7.5 tons, that means Maná is bringing the equivalent of about ten elephants of gear on tour.

The group plays the  in Fresno tomorrow, and the local paper seems to be eagerly anticipating the show. The Fresno Bee wrote of the group: ” If there is any doubt about the popularity of Maná, consider this: the Latin rock icons once sold 12 million tickets on a single concert tour, which puts the band in league with heavy hitters like Taylor Swift. The band played a record-setting seven-night run of sold-out shows at the Staples Center in Los Angeles (besting the likes of ). They’ve sold out that arena 13 times.”

Maná has set many attendance and sales records in Mexico and the group isn’t straying too far from its native land, with a stop scheduled in Guadalupe Oct. 15.
