River Center Reopens

The  in Baton Rouge, La., is reopened to the public after hundreds of flood victims staying there were relocated to another shelter Sept. 15. 

The Advocate reported the venue was used as an emergency shelter for nearly 300 people for 32 days after severe flooding in the area in August caused thousands to evacuate their homes.

At one point, the center housed around 2,000 evacuees. The Red Cross is now accommodating the remaining displaced at Celtic Studios, which is available until November when production for an independent film will begin there. Upcoming shows scheduled at the River Center include Elton John Oct. 5, Casting Crowns Oct. 13 and Bob Dylan and His Band Oct. 26.
