Songwriter Loudermilk Dies

John D. Loudermilk, 82, a legendary songwriter in Nashville, has died.

Loudermilk had little success as a recording or touring artist but wrote songs like “Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye,” “Tobacco Road” and “Indian Reservation” and was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1976.

Earlier this year, his songs were performed in tribute by Emmylou Harris, Bobby Braddock, Rodney Crowell and others at the Franklin Theatre. His death was announced by Braddock on Facebook; no date was given.
