Flobots Fire Up Fall
The alternative hip-hop band hits the streets of Wichita, Kan., Oct. 27 for a show at Barleycorn’s before heading to Lawrence, Kan., Oct. 28 for a gig at The Bottleneck. Next stop is Tulsa, Okla., Oct. 29 at The Vanguard.
The Denver-based group then appears in St. Louis Oct. 30 at 2720 Cherokee Performing Arts Center for a “special day of action and community” that features guest speakers and activities concluding with the band’s performance.
After Flobots wraps this run, the band has a concert in Santa Cruz, Calif., Dec. 3 at Moe’s Alley and will close out the year with a New Year’s Eve show in their hometown with Nahko and Medicine for the People at the Ogden Theatre.
“Like many people, we’ve been inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and we’re very much a part of it,” Flobot’s Jonny 5 said. “In Denver, it’s a movement not just about police violence, but affordable housing, homelessness, mental healthcare – stuff that affects us all. Honestly, ‘Black Lives Matter’ means ultimately that whoever you are, your life matters. Some people aren’t hearing that, so we thought we’d go one step further and say it loud and clear. That’s why we’re calling this the ‘Your Life Matters Tour.’”
“Music has the power to bring people together. Right now we need that more than ever,” drummer Kenny Ortiz said. “We didn’t anticipate hitting the road again nationally until NOENEMIES is released next year. But with all that’s happening in the country and in the world right now, there is just too much to say and too much to do to not get out there.”
